There should probably be a sticky for this topic since it comes up so often, but why not. I'm bored atm so I'll put my 5 cents in. -Diplomacy: Find out why you were attacked and fix it == You were deck'ed because they're bored and don't have anything better to do, shooting stuff is FUN , shooting you is easy compared to roaming low sec or 0.0. Dont bother to convo them it's a waste of time. -Pay Ransom to the Attacker == NEVER, EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Don't give them so much as one isk. It's a total waste, they'll probably just laugh at you, tell all their friends, and you'll get decked to death. -Disband (private chat channels ftw, reforming a new corp is optional) == Only in a worse case scenario ie: you're being perma griefed. Otherwise most decks will lapse in 2 weeks max so you're better to tough it out. -Spin Ships (i.e. don't undock, suitable if you have no assets and are patient) I've heard that Eve Uni uses this tactic from time to time. They train their noobs in market trading, PI, and various other activities that you can do in station. Remember, the richest people in all of eve are the traders, not ratters or mission runners and being able to generate isk in this game makes it easier to play and more fun. -Run (the universe is big, y0 (yes, I know about locators)) == Most greifers/high sec war deckers are lazy. You were chosen because you're reasonably close to their home base, you have decent numbers to shoot at, and mostly because they're positive they can kill you with impunity. Take the corp on a road trip, see some new regions, go play in low sec or 0.0 ( most of these peeps don't have the stones for either so they're unlikely to follow). -Pay Mercenaries == Good idea, BUT, do it for the right reasons. Don't count on someone else always being available to fight your battles. If however you don't have a clue about fc'ing, ship fitting, strategy or tactics, bringing in a couple professional gun slingers to help out can make a big difference.
Fight (train your noobs, engage at favourable isk ratios, that you can afford) Personally I consider this to be your best option when available. Try not to be suicidal and engage 2 v 12 but if you can field even remotely close numbers try to kick their asses. However, 2 bad things can happen. One, the war decker will love you for being a great fight and not want to leave you alone, Two; your carebears might discover PvP is OMGWTFPWN and want to become a PvP corp. Either way this is what i'd recommend. Sooner or later in this game you're gonna need to lock & load, better to have a bit of experience than none.
Hope this helps a bit. Have fun, and good shooting.
